Community Websites, Whitgift SNAP

Whitgift SNAP, provides play schemes for young people with physical and/or learning disabilities. Working closely with Whitgift School and its pupils and staff as part of the Croydon community.

Using a logo inspired by one of the children's drawings this site was designed in a very modular way. Every page is created in a central content managment system from elements that will work in harmony with each other.

The site also provides a facility for the exchange of documents between volunteers and help with the recruitment process. Both security and accessibility were key factors in this project.

Each page can be formed from modules of information that are created in the content management system. Very little technical knowledge is required and the creation of content is a simple cut and paste approach, even images are prepared for pages in the correct format by the system, minimising the amount of effort the site needs to remain current.

The system also manages users of the site whether they are interested visitors or content creators. The site has several levels of access and users can manage their own contributions and managers can distribute documents to specific groups within the organisation.
